GAMMISSION - a trip of business and pleasure 5th - 19th November 2008

After the success of the last 3 years, we have decided to make some significant additions to Gammission 2008. With this year being the alleged bicentennial anniversary of the abolition of the British Trans Atlantic slave trade, we are going home to Africa on a pilgrimage to commemorate the journey our Ancestors endured that enabled us to survive. Therefore, as well as our usual program of cultural enrichment, business & entertainment, we will be travelling to Goree Island in Senegal, where many of our Ancestors said 'goodbye' to Mother Africa at 'The door of no return'. On our return from the slave forts, we will have discussions & seminars organised by acclaimed historian & author Paul Ifayomi Grant in order to share our feelings & gain more knowledge, healing & overstanding of 'Ourstory' as Africans at home & in the Diaspora.

If you've been moved by your spirit to travel to the land of our Ancestors, but have not managed to make it 'home' yet, Gammission is an enabling conduit for this special journey that we feel all people of African descent, regardless of age, will be enriched by. The feedback we've recieved over the past two years informs us that making this personal journey of self discovery & healing is much enhanced by being part of a group. It is a deeply spiritual & emotional experience & unity truly is strength when we share the depth of what 'going home' & re-connecting with our African family truly means to us of African descent.

If you have travelled to Africa before, Gammission still has much to offer the seasoned traveller. We have a comprehensive program of activities & excursions for the whole family to enjoy & be enriched by. One of our primary aims as organisers of this yearly event, is that we become stonger & more united as a family.

This year is particularly significant to 'Ourstory' as we have the opportunity to explore the meaning of 1807 & William Wilberforce from our perspective & to further the aspirations of our icons such as Marcus Garvey, Kwame Nkrumah etc. Furthermore, we can write our own chapter for those who come after us. Paul Ifayomi Grant will highlight the importance of us knowing & owning 'Ourstory' & history so that we empower ourselves & fortify our self esteem by examining our Ancestors achievements way before the Trans Atlantic slave trade, The African Holocaust.

And when the beautiful African sun sets...it's time to get 'Afromantic' & celebrate til the early hours. As usual, we have booked the cream of London's radio & club DJ's for your enjoyment at our various theme parties.
